Data We Collect

When you use Fix My Car Sound, we collect the following information:

• Vehicle information: Year, make, model, and mileage that you provide when submitting a diagnosis.
• Audio recordings: The car sound recordings you submit for analysis, up to 15 seconds each.
• Context details: Optional information about when and where the sound occurs (e.g., at idle, while driving, engine location).
• IP address: Collected automatically when you access the service for security and abuse prevention.
• Email address: Provided during checkout to deliver your diagnostic pass and receipts.
• Payment information: Processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full card details on our servers.

How Audio Is Handled

Your audio recordings are central to our diagnostic service. Here is how we handle them:

• Audio is uploaded and processed in real time to generate a spectrogram for AI analysis.
• Processed audio files are stored securely in Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 with server-side encryption.
• Audio recordings are automatically deleted after 90 days.
• Audio is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for purposes other than providing your diagnosis.

Data Retention

• Diagnosis records (text results, severity, cost estimates) are retained for 12 months from the date of creation, then permanently deleted.
• Audio recordings are retained for 90 days, then permanently deleted from AWS S3.
• Payment records are retained as required by applicable tax and financial regulations.
• Email addresses are retained for the duration of your pass validity plus 12 months.

Third Parties

We use the following third-party services to operate Fix My Car Sound:

• Anthropic — Provides the AI model (Claude) that analyzes your car sound spectrograms and generates diagnoses.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — Hosts audio file storage (S3) and application infrastructure.
• Stripe — Processes all payments securely. Your payment details are handled entirely by Stripe and are subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Resend — Sends transactional emails such as pass confirmations and receipts.

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
• Request deletion of your personal data, including audio recordings and diagnosis history.
• Withdraw consent for data processing at any time.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on our website prior to the change becoming effective.
